Smaller Nether Portals Mod 1.17.1/1.16.5 is a minimalistic mod that allows the creation of smaller nether portals, specifically the sizes 1×2, 1×3 and 2×2.

Note: There is currently a “bug” in Minecraft when teleporting from a smaller portal, which places the player underneath the portal on the other side. The mod can detect when this happens, and will teleport the player in front of the portal instead. It detects the blocks below, and if it-s Netherrack, Soul Sand or an Air block, it will replace those blocks with obsidian to prevent unwanted deaths. It will also create an air gap if necessary.

The mod requires Minecraft Forge to work. To properly install the mod, follow the simple steps below.

1. Make sure you have already installed Minecraft Forge and Collective Library.
2. Locate the minecraft application folder.
   • On windows open Run from the start menu, type %appdata% and click Run.
   • On mac open finder, hold down ALT and click Go then Library in the top menu bar. Open the folder Application Support and look for Minecraft.
3. Place the mod you have just downloaded (.jar file) into the Mods folder.
4. When you launch Minecraft and click the mods button you should now see the mod is installed.
