The Xray mod is a mod for Minecraft that allows you to see through unnecessary blocks, such as dirt, stone, grass, and sand, to reveal minerals that the player is looking for, such as diamonds, gold, iron, and coal.
The mod also reveals dungeons, chests, and other objects crafted by players, such as doors or ladders.
This mod works in solo, but also in multiplayer on unprotected servers. For server administrators, you can protect your server using this plugin .

You can create you own mode in Xray by adding in the xray.json in “customModes” names of new modes:theType

Xray mod with Launcher Vanilla
Install the Xray mod with the vanilla launcher of Minecraft
- Download the file that matches your version of Minecraft
You are going to have a .jar file that you can save anywhere you want
- Double click on this file and a pop-up window should appear
The drop-down list displays all the versions of Minecraft you currently have installed. Click on the [Install] button
- In the next window, you have the possibility to name the installation
You can leave what is displayed by default ‘{version No.} – Xray’. Press [OK].
- Start the Minecraft launcher
Next to the big green [PLAY] button, you should be able to select the newly created Xray installation.
- Once the game is launched you can click on [Options]> [Controls] and scroll down until you see an “XRay” section
You may find that some default controls are colored RED. This means that they are in conflict with other controls in the game, you will have to modify them.
Xray mod with Optifine
The Xray mod (without Forge) is compatible with Optifine , follow the steps below to make them work together:
- Download Xray and Optifine for the version of Minecraft you will be playing on.
- Double click on the Optifine Jar file and a popup should appear.
- Click on the [Install] button
- A new pop-up window should tell you that “Optifine has been installed successfully”
- Double-click on the left on the Xray Jar file. In the pop-up window, click on the small down arrow of the drop-down list and make sure the Optifine installation is selected.
- Click on [Install]
- A new pop-up will appear. Make sure to click [Create a New Profile], otherwise Xray might conflict with Optifine.
- In the next window, choose an appropriate name or keep what is shown as default. Click [OK] and another window should appear “Xray has been installed / updated successfully”
- Open the Minecraft Launcher, make sure the correct Optifine / Xray profile is selected, then click [Play]
- Once the game has started you can verify that Optifine is installed by clicking on [Options]> [Video Settings] and in the corner it should show something like “Optifine HD F3 Ultra”
- By clicking on [Options]> [Controls] and scrolling down you should see a section called “Xray”
How to install a Minecraft mod?

Most mods require you to install Forge or Fabric to function properly. Forge and Fabric are, to put it simply, a platform that allows for easy installation and significant stability for mods.
- Download the mod you want to install
You can download the mod you want to install from the site of your choice.
- Install the API needed to make the mod work
Depending on the mod, you will need to install an API, the most common of which is Minecraft Forge .
- Select your API profile in the Minecraft launcher and launch the game
When the API is installed, you need to launch Minecraft and select the API profile to upload the data to your game.
- Open your Mods folder
To access the mods folder you have to go to the .minecraft folder. To access via Windows make Windows key + R and type % appdata%, then click the folder roaming and navigate to the folder .minecraft. On a Linux distribution , do ALT + F2 and type .minecraft. On Mac , your folder. minecraft can be found in User> Library> Application Support . If you can’t find Application Support , do Finder> Menu Bar: Go + Hold ALT> Library.
- Put your downloaded (mod) file in the Mods folder
Just drag the mod file you downloaded into the Mods folder that is in .Minecraft.
- Run Minecraft and enjoy the mod!
