Although Valheim does not have official mod support, modders continue to find new ways to add mods to the game that allow players to experience the mythical world of Valheim in new ways. Auto fuel is one of the very useful mods in this game. Although this mod will still have some issues, it has received various updates to regulate its use in the game.
Why should we use the auto fuel mod?
The fact of the matter is that this game does not officially support modding, but that hasn’t stopped the community from building their tools to change the gameplay. If you are looking for a way to experience Valheim without using dashboard commands or change some of the more tedious aspects of this game, the auto fuel mod is one of the things you need.
About auto fuel mod
Valheim is a survival game inspired by the Valheim world in ancient Viking mythology. This is where the Viking warriors, after death, can come to train and perfect themselves. Players will experience the feeling of fighting and survival to train themselves in that wonderful mythical world.
Auto Fuel mod is created and uploaded by Aedenthorn and provided on nexus mods. Although still a work in progress, the Auto Fuel mod seems to be surprisingly good. The main feature of this mod is automatically pulled fuel and ore for kilns and smelters from the ground as well as nearby containers.
When using this mod, your dynamic range defaults to 10 meters. Therefore, you can put coal, wood, or ore in a nearby container, and the furnace and furnace will suck it up. Alternatively, you can also drop wood, coal, or ore into the ground near the kiln or smelter.
There are three configurable ranges:
- fireplaceRange
- smelterOreRange
- smelterFuelRange
The default range for each type of fueling is 5 meters.
How to use this mod
In my opinion, the auto fuel mod works with other stations (many things are considered smelters, including kilns). Up to now, auto fuel mod does not work with fireplaces, torches, cooking stations yet.
Config
A config file BepInEx/config/aedenthorn.AutoFuel.cfg is created after running the game once with this mod).
You can adjust the config values by editing this file using a text editor
In this mod, you can find two prevent lists in the config, including”
- FuelDisallowTypes: specifies types of consumables such as wood and coal. They are disallowed (does not apply to kilns, as kilns considered wood and ore)
- OreDisallowTypes: defines types of ore (anything that is transformed into something else) that are disallowed, too.
You can optionally set a hotkey to toggle the behaviour on and off, and you can adjust the ranges for containers and ground pulling (default 10 meters each).
You can reset the config by opening the in-game console (F5) and typing autofuel reset and pressing Enter.
How do you install Auto Fuel Mod?
- First you need to access BepInExPack Valheim. Then download and follow the step-by-step installation instructions for the mod.
- To install manually, place the .dll file in the BepInEx/plugins folder. You will need BepInEx.
- Run the game Valheim
